A:The following table can be used as a guide to work out where your registration number or vehicle originated from as it shows the originally licensing authorities. Please note this table does not work for all combinations (some changed areas) or DVLA special issues (e.g. classic or select registrations).
For one/two letter number plates simply find the one/two letter combination below.
For Three letter number plates use the last two letters to identify the issuing area, this works for most prefix and suffix registrations as well, although most were issued in later years by local Vehicle Registration Offices (V.R.O.s) rather than the local council/town hall. |
