|10FG40 on 1968 Land Rover Series IIa 'Pink Panther' SAS Desert Car
1 of 72 Land Rovers converted for desert use by Marshalls of Cambridge.
These 'Pink Panthers' as they were known, were painted pink because that was the colour considered to provide the greatest camouflage in the desert.
Doors & windscreen were removed, with weapons and equipement being of far greater priority.
Heavy duty springs, sand tyres and long range fuel tanks becoming standard equipment. Together of course with metal tracks and a shovel to be able to get back on the move if things did go wrong.
